| Quin Rivers offers a suite of personal finance services designed to assist in financial self-sufficiency and grow net worth. In 2007, most of our efforts focused on pre-purchase counseling while housing sales were high and education was a component to home loans. With the change in the economic markets we experienced an increase in delinquency/foreclosure prevention and reverse mortgage counseling. With funding from Housing and Urban Development, the Virginia Housing Development Authority, Virginia Community Action Partnership, and a National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling grant, in 2010 we assisted 185 clients. In addition to one-on-one counseling we offer general financial literacy. Due to the complex nature of mortgage agreements and the remedies, we strongly encourage and prefer face to face counseling sessions.
Services Offered
Eligibility RequirementsWe serve all ten Quin Rivers’ localities, plus the surrounding areas. If telephone counseling is the only option, Quin Rivers may refer clients to another HUD agency in the caller’s immediate area. For Reverse Mortgage counseling, we serve all localities in Virginia.
